AMS Autowerks Meet For A Cause

Meet For A Cause

The name AMS Autowerks is a familiar name to those living in the New York Metro area. The shop has built a reputation of building clean quality cars. They definitely rank amongst the few elite shops throughout the country. We were excited when we were given an invitation back in July at Waterfest to attend their first annual “Meet For A Cause.” As the details about this event unfolded we became even more intrigued by the fact that this was a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and March of Dimes. We all know someone who as been affected by cancer. So, the fact that they’re supporting their community in an effort to stomp out cancer and support healthy babies locally and nationally is phenomenal.

It was beautiful blue skies on Sunday, September 9th as AMS kicked off their event at the Union County Vocational and Technical High Schools in Scotch Plains, NJ. The parking lot quickly transformed from student parking to a well-organized show grounds.  Besides looking at all the show cars spectators were able to support the vendors who lined the parking lot. There were apparel, powder coating, audio vendors and no event is official unless there is a sticker maker. When we got hungry from visiting the different vendors there were food trucks to satisfy a hungry appetite. If we may add the burgers were off the hook.

The show area had a mix of some of Europe’s finest, domestics and the Asian markets. From what we are told having such a mix of cars at a meet or even a show is quiet the norm in the Northeast. We had the opportunity to check out well over 150 modified cars from the various automakers. Shaved bays, stanced out wheels, and crazy color schemes were the order of the day. AMS had their personal cars on display as well and that in of itself was a treat. The AMS Porsche Panamera that has been creating such a buzz was on display. There was even a Ford Shelby AC Cobra parked right next to the Panamera.

Representatives from the American Cancer Society and March of Dimes spoke to the crowd about their respective organizations. They truly appreciated everyone coming to together to raise money so that they can continue to help others. Through the help of vendors present and sponsors the AMS crew was able to raffle off some pretty cool items ranging from photo-shoots to wheels from Rotiform. It was awesome to see companies big and small supporting such worthy causes. The day wrapped up with a presentation of awards. All in all 16 custom plaques were handed out.

This was a laidback meet or show, however you want to look at it. We had the opportunity to meet some great people and support two great causes. Congrats to the entire AMS crew we’ll definitely be back next year.
