Justin's 1986 Alpine White Cabby
I got called up by Justin Polenz not too long ago wanting a photoshoot of his 1986 alpine white Cabby. Not too long after, we met up at a quiet spot outside of downtown Montreal. Since Justin works most of the time, I never got to see his cabby in person at local car meets. Not being a crazy fan of convertibles, I kinda liked this one and would see myself driving one.
Justin purchased the MK1 Cabby last September at a dealership with 146k original kilometers. The initial plan was to put wheels and bags, but that changed soon enough. Eurowise released their bolt on kit for the VR6, and Justin jumped on it right away. The original engine was pulled out and replaced with a 24V VR6 from a 2003 GLI and a 12V GTI transmission with a custom clutch, Peloquin LSD, Driveshaft shop, and Eurowise motor mounts. Airlift rear bags with a custom front setup were put together from a kit belonging to a friend’s car. Managed by a Accuair manifold with the AVS 7 Switchbox. The front seats were swapped from a Corrado. MK3 GTI cluster and a MK4 shifter and other subtle changes made are what make this cabby special. Most of this work was done by none other than Super Dave from Stance Dubs. Future plans will include euro metal bumpers, smoke e-code headlights, and a fully shave engine bay.
