Bag Build - 2012 Mk6 Jetta TDi + Stance setup.
So here is my first Bag Build Thread. We've been working for the past 6 weeks on 2 setups like this one. One on my buddy's Audi A3 ( Link: http://www.vagscene.com/1373_bag_build_worlds_first_audi_a3_32_quattro_((as_far_as_we_know_)).html?post=1 ) and mine. Spencer and his father have both been very patient, not only did we had to "leave" the car up to where we were at sometimes, but also because when things didn't work out like we wanted... i had the help i needed to complete this project!!! Thanks Man!!!!
I wouldn' be afraid to say that we've put over 100 hours of thinking and swearing and thinking and trying and... you know what it is.
I'd like to start with some big shout out to 2 person who gave us Excellent service and who also supplied us with the necessary part for this build: My friends Paul and Deryck at http://www.facebook.com/d2ind. We had a great service ( you'll know everything in details lower ) and they did everything they could so we could be bagged by Eurokracy !!!!
the car stock.

Kit included:
- 5 galon skinny tank (black) w/ mountings hardware
- dual viar compressors
- Air Lift Slam series front struts + bags
- Custom rear bags + struts
- all fittings, 1/4" air lines, etc.
- Autopilot V2 + remote
Everything went quite well for the install

we started by cutting the exact size of the bottom panel on MDF 1/2". I really wanted to keep everything functionnal. I work as a sales rep for Coca-Cola so i wanted to be able to put stuff in the trunk while having access to the spare tire... just in case !!!

after i had that pannel in hand, i was able to play around with the tank and compressors positions easily. Basically, that panel fitted perfectly in the spot designed for it by VW. I simply took the carpet out of the trunk and cut.
We had a few holes to make and had to make chambers for the head of the bolts to be flat with the surface in contact with the floor of the trunk. We also cutted the pannel in 2, the "Front" part ( which had the tank and compressors on it ) and "rear" part which was the "spare covering" panel.

to keep the possibility of putting stuff in the trunk even when lowering the back seats i decided to position the tank that way. Compressors are behind it with the AirLift AutoPilot ECU in between.

putting the air lines from back to front and wiring everything to the battery. had to modify the harness a bit so that everything fits with the dual compressors ( that was the hardest part actually !! )

We installed a Ball valve for the "air flush" so we can purge the tank manually, directly outside of the car.

finishing up the wiring !!!

Once both setups were completed and fitted we painted them satin black just to protect them from humidity. We went to "Fabriqueville" which is a place where you can buy all kinds of fabrics, tissus and upholstery things.
Bought some black suede and about 3/4" thick foam that would let us have some "depth" when covering the panels with suede. As you can see, it's quite "fluffy" !!! hehe.

fitment isn't only about wheels and wheel arches...

Then we moved from trunk to under the car. installing the front and rear struts and bags.
for those of you wondering why air ride are so low....

we kinda had problem taking the front struts OUT because: no proper tools....

had to buff the bottom part of the front struts to help them get in.

there you go B*tch !!!

and then the rear

Then we finished!!! But when taking the car OUT of the garage, something was wrong... rear LEFT was ridiculously low... even if it held 5 psi earlier. Jacked the car and stumbled on this:

definately, everything went wrong that night....

that was on saturday june 16th... 7 days before Eurokracy... so i contacted the guys and they told me i would get a replacement before EK that would let me install everything on time. Guess what we did on sunday.... that's right we put everything back to stock in the rear. Rolled with air front and OeM rear... kinda bouncy... good news was that by Thursday June 21st i had the replacement part and installed it, everything when great !!!!
and the final result with the previously purchased wheels and tires. (( you'll see aswell shots from Eurokracy 2012, we were there for promoting our event, the Deutsch Fest. for more details: www.deutschfest.com ( soon online ) and www.facebook.com/deutsch.fest ))
